Add to saucepan on medium high heat. Add 1/2 cup maple syrup 1 tsp Vanilla 1 stick Cinnamon 2 slices fresh Ginger zest from 1/2 Orange 1/2 orange's juice Simmer until it becomes a thick, soft compote, not too mushy. Transfer to a bowl, removing the cinnamon and ginger. Mix until combined: 1 1/2 cups whole milk 4 eggs 1 tbsp packed brown sugar 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg 1/8 tsp ground cloves 1/2 tsp vanilla zest from 1/2 orange. Pour into a pan. Dip your favorite bread slices (I'm using brioche) in the egg batter, 30 seconds on each side. Cook in a pan with butter until each side is golden brown. Serve on a platter, dust with powdered sugar, layer on the cranberry compote, top with orange zest.
